About this Webinar
In a courtroom, a green traffic light on a safety report doesn't carry much weight.
Greg Smith has spent decades on the other side of the worst days: the incidents, the investigations, and the prosecutions. He's read the files, flicked through the folders, and watched organisation after organisation mistake documentation for protection.
Following one of the top-rated sessions at epic 2026, Greg joins Safety Voices to ask a question that deserves a straight answer. When a worker's harmed, was anyone safer because the form was filed?
He'll unpack the misconceptions that leave well-meaning organisations exposed. Completed paperwork doesn't mean the purpose was achieved. A quiet year doesn't mean the systems work. And being busy isn't the same as being assured. Often, the biggest risk sits in the gap between what's written down and what happens on site.
Expect plain talking, a few uncomfortable questions, and practical ways to check your systems work, not just exist.
What You'll Learn
-
Paperwork isn't protection. Why ticking the box and achieving its purpose are two different things, and why a good record of no incidents can hide weak systems.
-
Activity isn't assurance. Which of your safety numbers would stand up to scrutiny, and which simply keep your supervisors busy when they could be watching the work.
-
Leadership and culture need systems behind them. Why a well-liked leader and a strong culture matter, but can't replace systems that are implemented, checked, and connected to the risk.
-
Questions worth asking before something goes wrong. Practical ways to test whether your reporting reflects reality, how you verify it, and what should prompt you to look deeper.
Who Should Attend:
- Health & Safety and Risk Professionals
- Team Leaders and Managers
- Senior Leaders and Executives
- HR and People and Culture Leaders
- Anyone responsible for workplace health and safety outcomes
